REFUGEE SUPPORT

Developing cut-through communications.

We devised an event aimed at shifting the conversation from refugees as people who need handouts to people with latent talent who can make a valuable contribution to the economy. The event featured an evening of inspiring stories designed to shift attitudes. Following the event, The Economist featured Refugee Support in its Bartleby blog, Helping refugees into employment. Assets that we created from the event included a video and a blog from the event to provide the charity with engaging content to share with its volunteers and potential donors.

The panel:

  • Paul Hutchings – Co-founder, Refugee Support, former market research agency boss who gave it all up to focus full time on running a charity providing aid with dignity,
  • Dina Nayeri – Author, The Ungrateful Refugee and herself a child refugee from age 8
  • Mike Butcher –  Techcrunch editor at large and founder, Techfugees

We captured the event on video and  generated an event report to send to attendees, the wider stakeholder group of supporters and for use in social media and as digital assets. The Economist story followed several interviews with Refugees at the Dignity Centre in Cyprus which we were able to set up.
